Dr. Jackie Ellis, as the lead, and Dr. Avi Parush, as the co-lead, along with a other researchers from CHEO and Carleton University have been awarded a research grant from the Canadian Patient Safety Institute to develop and test a computerized double-check application to prevent high-alert medication errors.

JUS Announces New Co-Editor

Avi Parush, founder and editor of the Journal of Usability Studies (JUS), and Associate Professor of Psychology, Human Oriented Technology (HOT) Laboratory at Carleton University, recently announced the appointment of Joe Dumas as co-editor-in-chief of JUS. Dumas is a leading pioneer in the usability field and has published the Practical Guide to Usability Testing and Moderating Usability Tests and many other articles. “We are delighted to announce Joe’s appointment,” said Parush. “He has been on the editorial board of JUS since it’s inception in November, 2005. His knowledge and experience will continue to be a great asset to JUS,” said Parush.

JUS is a peer-reviewed, international, online publication dedicated to promoting and enhancing the usability practice. In addition to Dumas, a search is on for an additional co-editor-in-chief. “We will continue looking for another person to become the other co-editor in chief allowing me to move on to other activities and new initiatives,” said Parush. “This gradual change can also be a great opportunity to increase the visibility of the journal.”
